.ABOUT THE ROTARY CLUB OF FILEY.
Known as The Rotary Club of Filey (“the Club”)
and sometimes referred to as “Filey Rotary”, the Club received its Charter
from Rotary International on 18th December 1947.
It is one of 79
clubs in the North Eastern District known as District 1040.
As a Club we believe Rotary should be fun and we enjoy
ourselves at meetings and social events.
We welcome visiting Rotarians and guests of both
sexes to the club
We meet weekly as follows:
First,
Third & Fifth Thursday of the month
Dinner 6.30 for 7.00 p.m.
(When there is a Fifth Thursday in the month
wives/partners are most welcome)
Second & Fourth Thursday of the month Lunch 12.15 for 12.40 p.m.
Venue: The
White Lodge Hotel. Filey.
Some events are purely social, with wives and
friends, others are aimed at fund-raising, or service for local, national and
international projects,
but whatever the purpose, our aim is to enjoy our
fellowship.
WHAT IS EXPECTED OF MEMBERS?
To promote Fellowship Rotarians must attend
50% half of which must be at their “home” club. Members of the Club, have
immediate access to the meetings of some 1850 clubs in the U.K. plus 27,000
other clubs worldwide in 154 countries with a total of 1,2000,000 members.
Individual visits can be made without prior appointment; Rotary
encourages its members to make such visits.
An attendance at another Club’s regular meeting contributes to an
individual’s attendance record.
There is an annual subscription that contains a
capitation fee paid to Rotary headquarters. Our current subscription is £140 per
year payable 1st July.
WHY DO WE WANT NEW MEMBERS?
There is always an inevitable
membership loss through people moving home, place of work, or for a variety of
other reasons. Membership is open
to both active and retired persons. We
are particularly keen to recruit young members who will allow the Club to
continue to flourish into the future whilst at the same time being sensitive to
the ever-changing needs within our community and society.
WHO ARE ABLE TO JOIN THE CLUB?
Being of sound character with
a good business and professional reputation membership is open to Ladies and
Gentlemen from the age of 30 years old who hold, or held prior to retirement:
